Dr. Sherman Dunn Sworn in as New NYSOMS President
Sherman Dunn, DO, FACOOG, an OB/GYN from Brooklyn, was sworn in as NYSOMS' President on April 13, 2018, at the society's Annual Meeting.

He was administered the oath of office by fellow OB/GYN and AOA Trustee Theresa Hubka, DO, who inspired him to get involved in physician advocacy when he was a fledgling member of the American College of Osteopathic Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOOG). Today, Dr. Dunn is a fellow of ACOOG and a member of its Board of Trustees.
For the past 25 years, Dr. Dunn has served as an Ob/Gyn Generalist at Coney Island Hospital, where he has held the positions of .Osteopathic Director of Medical Education, Transitional Internship Program Director and Ob/Gyn Clerkship Director for NYITCOM students. He is currently the ACGME Ob/Gyn Program Director for the institutional teaching residents, medical students, midwifery and physician assistant students.
Dr. Dunn is is an Osteopathic Health Policy Fellow, a diplomate of the American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review Physicians and a member of the National Staff for the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners. He has been a NYSOMS member for approximately 20 years and a New York State delegate to the annual AOA House of Delegates meeting since 2009.
He is also an involved member of the Medical Society of the State of New York (MSSNY). He served as the 167th President of the Medical Society of the County of Kings, and is a Kings County delegate to the MSSNY House of Delegates.
