PASSING OF A NYSOMS PAST-PRESIDENT
Jerome Ditkoff, DO, who served as president of the New York State Osteopathic Medical Society (NYSOMS) from 1986-1988, died on April 10, 2018, at his home in Manhasset Hills, NY.
Dr. Ditkoff was among the group of NYSOMS members who helped establish what is now the NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine as the first osteopathic medical school in New York State.
Jerome Ditkoff was born on Aug. 8, 1933 in Brooklyn, NY. He attended Brooklyn College and received his medical degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He practiced Family Medicine for over forty years.
Jerry was married to Adele Liekerman for over fifty years and together they had four sons - Edward, Charles, Jonathan and Michael - and four daughters-in-law - Pat, Beth Ann, Robyn and Tami. Adele predeceased Jerry in 2012. Jerry and Adele were proud of their children and were dedicated and loving parents. They were also blessed with eight grandchildren.
Jerry had a wonderful sense of humor, loved music and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. A private funeral service was held on April 15. Memorial donations may be made in Jerry's name to the Parkinson's Foundation.
