ROC-NY President's Reception plus NYITCOM Alumni Reunion equals a Great Night!
One of the highlights of ROC-NY is NYSOMS' President's Reception and Awards Ceremony, co sponsored by the NYITCOM Office of Alumni Affairs, where we honor those who have made an impact on health care in New York State. This year, NYSOMS gave "Unsung Hero" awards to four longtime directors of medical education at hospitals that deliver osteopathic residency training. Collectively, they have taught and mentored hundreds, if not thousands, of osteopathic medical students and residents.

NYSOMS' President, Patricia Hunt, DO, gave out a special President's Award to Blanche Puglisi, RN. Although she is not a DO, Mrs Puglisi has spent most of her medical career embodying osteopathic philosophy, and caring for the underserved and uninsured in New York State. Since 2000, she has been a volunteer for ROTACARE, a nonprofit agency that provides free primary health care services on Long Island. She has obtained several grants for ROTACARE, which have enabled the agency to substantially expand its services.
